All Together for Christmas Magic on Silba Island

Total Croatia News

The synergy and heartiness of all who are taking part in this project has already spawned a Christmas song. A press release from Pokret Otoka, an NGO which is growing quickly with its mission to connect and improve life on Croatia’s islands.

Charting a spot on the map of popular Advent destinations in Croatia, a first appearance will be made by Silba Island, with an Advent message and events which in their originality truly surpass many large cities!

Under the motto “All together for Christmas magic on Silba,” from 23 December 2015 to 1 January 2017 for the first time a series of Advent cultural and artistic events will be held. Together with island residents they were envisioned by producers Kristijan Lopac and Aleksandar Kovačević from the agency Follow Your Heart, with the main motive of reviving the island with touristic offers outside the summer season.

With full support by the Island Parliaments, the Tourist Board of Silba, Island Movement and members of the local council of Silba gathered around the initiative Silba at Heart, the realisation of the premiere edition of the manifestation was wholeheartedly supported by island residents as well.

The synergy and heartiness of all who are taking part in this project has already spawned a Christmas song, a remake of the hit “Christmas is Coming,” with Christmas coming to Silba this time, naturally, with a becoming song and video on the island itself. The song and video were populated with the voices and positive energy of the volunteers, Silba residents and a cappella choir Munita.

In order to go beyond Silba, Kristijan Lopac pointed out, with the support of the Island Parliament, Silba should be an example of the gathering of residents and supporters of Croatian islands around the initiative of reviving the tourism offer on islands.

Hence all participants of the Silba project have called on local councils and volunteers of neighbouring Dalmatian islands to join them at the opening of the Silba event, beginning on 23 December with a Christmas concert on the Toreta, with soprano singer Antonela Malis and young Zadar tenor Ivan Dražović.

Along with the above, event organisers will on Christmas eve symbolically decorate 15 Christmas trees, one for each Dalmatian island.

“Silba is the farthest island in Zadar County. If a small island with 250 residents can start such a project, than any small village can do so as well, every other island in Croatia. What matters is honest volition and hands joining together! It happened to us on Silba, we joined as volunteers, without a budget, around an honest idea and together we are creating true Christmas magic on Silba. Help us out and come to Silba on this Advent!” said Kristijan Lopac.

Kristijan also revealed that praises for the idea and realisation of the project pour in everyday from all parts of Croatia, together with an official commendation from the Croatian President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

Enjoy the song “Christmas is Coming to Silba” and visit the manifestation itself!
