The famous American chef, gourmet and travel writer Anthony Bourdain, the author of the Emmy Award-winning travel and culinary shows “No Reservations” and “Parts Unknown”, died earlier today from an apparent suicide. Anthony’s host was the distinguished Croatian chef Mate Janković, best known as a jury member on culinary TV competitions.

Immediately upon his arrival, Anthony admitted that he had almost no idea about Croatian cuisine. However, after his culinary adventure on the Croatian coast, where he enjoyed both the food and nature, all he could say was: “I am … an idiot!”

“Croatia is the next great thing. If you have not been here, you are… an idiot! I am an idiot!” Bourdain said, delighted with what Croatia has to offer.

Bourdain started his trip in Istria, where he tasted oysters and mussels and various dishes made from the Istrian white truffle. His later went to the Zadar area, where he tried fresh tuna, going then to the island of Pag and later enjoying the famous Skradin risotto. He concluded his journey on the Kornati islands.

Bourdain was particularly impressed with top-quality Croatian wines, which he said were among the best in the world.
