A good read for everybody wishing to look and feel younger.
After the fantastic Croatian Cookbook, which is much more than just that, written by Mate Janković, the Školska Knjiga publishing company has done a superb job once again. A book by nutritionist Lejla Kažinić Kreho “Anti-Aging Nutrition” was presented at the Gymnasium Cafe of the Mimara Museum in Zagreb.
The author has a master’s degree in nutrition and is a long-time member of the British Nutrition Society. She studied at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom – the King’s College, the London University and the Dunn Institute of the University of Cambridge, and is also the founder of the alkaline diet in Croatia and the most prominent ambassador of this kind of diet.
With numerous guests in attendance, and with the help of the writer and psychotherapist Milana Vlaović as a moderator, Kreho discussed how healthy and balanced nutrition can improve mood, help to slow down aging processes and lead to more vitality and better health. Kreho explained the benefits of the alkaline diet which has been scientifically proven to be an excellent natural therapy and an aid in slowing down aging. She also explained what organism acidity does to the human body and how alkaline nutrition can even help treat some illnesses.
“The book’s advantage is that it is written in a simple and easily comprehensible language, and reveals many lesser-known facts about good-quality and balanced nutrition. I am a supporter of healthy eating myself, which I find very useful for improving the general condition of spirit and body,” said Milana Vlaović.
“We are living in times that favour young people when even a kind of cult of youth exists. On the one hand, this represents a strong pressure on all of us, especially women, but on the other hand, it is not bad to take care of your health and vitality and look young – as long as we are slowing down the aging processes in a natural way. In the book, I have gathered all the knowledge I have and tried to present it in a simple and easily comprehensible way. I would like this information on ‘anti-aging’ nutrition to reach as many people as possible since this type of diet can really affect your health and feelings of satisfaction and personal fulfilment. I always say that food is our most intimate relationship with the outside world, and it is the means by which we shape and directly influence both our inner health and our exterior appearance,” said Lejla Kažinić Kreho.
In addition to the practical and theoretical knowledge, the book also includes 30 recipes for a seven-day alkaline anti-aging diet programme, 15 recipes for perfect and youthful skin, hair, youthful circulation, as well nutrition suggestions for diets that will overcome stress, eliminate hyperpigmentation, acne and the like.
“I am glad a book has been written which will help those of us who do not work in the medical and nutrition sectors to adjust our diets and focus on how to maintain our health, vitality and youthful looks as long as possible. The book is simple, and the recipes can be easily prepared and do not require a lot of time, knowledge or money. Indeed, this is a book that everyone who cares for their health needs,” said Ana Marija Žužul speaking for Školska Knjiga. “It is the right time ahead of the summer to focus on our health and bring high-quality nutrition to our menus. It is the right time for ‘Anti-Aging Nutrition’.”
