TCN’s Ashley Colburn gets the exclusive UberBOAT treatment.
Forget the crowded highways and ferry lines, there’s a new way to arrive in Croatia’s islands, and you can do it in style. UberBOAT is the new, fast and easy way to travel and international journalists experienced this glam way of transport to prepare for its launch.
The Uber brand is recognized globally, so this comfort of pressing a button and traveling by boat changes things for the better, especially when travelers are looking for convenience.
Journalists from Poland, Czech Republic, USA, France and Switzerland experienced the first UberBOAT ride and got to enjoy the exclusive treatment that Uber offers. The first UberBOAT was a look at the future and was a stress-free way to travel. Starting at the Split Riva, the boats were equipped with Uber pillows and music while journalists enjoyed sunbathing towards the airport. Once everyone arrived, Uber vans continued the VIP treatment up to the hills of Trogir to Babe winery. The views were priceless and the wine flowed as everyone enjoyed a taste of Croatian hospitality. In order to visit this stone house winery, appointments must be made. The beauty of Uber is whether you want to travel to known or secret places, there is now a way to get you there- by car or by boat.
This international attention that was brought to Croatia with UberBOAT is likely just the beginning of connecting people with places.
Upon launch in the week commencing June 26, UberBOAT will only be traveling between Split Airport, Split and Hvar, however, the option to rent a boat for a half-day or full day is also available.
Here’s how UberBOAT works:
1. Open the Uber app and enter your desired island destination
2. Select UberBOAT* or UberBOATxl** from the menu
3. Your boat captain will contact you for further arrangements
4. Upon confirmation, riders will be directed to the nearest pickup point where the captain will meet them with lifejackets and water refreshments in tow.
* UberBOAT service is for up to 8 passengers
** UberBOATxl is for up to 12 passengers
UberBOATs are speedboats available in two sizes, accommodating up to eight or twelve passengers. All service providers have licensed charter and transfer companies, whose skippers hold a valid commercial transportation license.
