Beerfest Sjever: Your chance to join the Croatian craft beer revolution and taste the fruits of its labor, in a single place.
Northern Croatia’s favorite spring beer festival, Beerfest Sjever, will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 26th and 27th, as part of the celebration of the Day of the City of Čakovec.
The largest northern festival of crafts and premium beers, Beerfest Sjever will be held for its 4th edition this year, presenting 11 breweries from Croatia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic, as well as producers of hops, beer ingredients, and the Brewery Association of the North – UPS, all on the premises of the Stari Hrast industrial complex in Čakovec.

“This year, we will host the Lobik Brewery from Slovenia, as well as the craft brewery Breclav from the Czech Republic,” said Krešimir Biškup of Stari Hrast. “In one place, we aim to bring together independent brewers, independent culture, great rock, and offer a slightly more alternative, urban kind of festival.”
The festival will present many well-known breweries including Zmajska, Medvedgrad, Daruvarska, Križevačka and Pulfer. For the first time, the festival will welcome the brewery LAB from Split, Zagreb’s Hublon, Breclav from the Czech Republic, Lobik from Slovenia and, of course, local favorite Lepi Dečki from Međimurje.
Over the two days of the festival, the Brewery Association of the North will demonstrate the process of beer-making and even teach visitors the ropes of cooking their own beer at home. In addition, the team from “All In” will have their own “Craft Beer To Go” system, and there will be a series of workshops and roundtable discussions on the subject of breweries.

Of course, UPS will have beers for visitors to taste and buy, and they’ll even offer a selection of their own beers, homemade and prepared with lots of love.
For the musical part of the festival, Friday will host Croatian DJ master Filip Horvat (DJ #PNCJ), while Saturday expects a real rock treat with Slovenia’s Scatter from Lendava and two local and energetic rockers “Clone Age” and “Audio Detective”.
Head to Stari Hrast this weekend to help celebrate the City Day of Čakovec and support independent brewery culture!
