August 12, 2023 – Next weekend, from August 17-20, plenty of good fun is expected at the Koprivnica Renaissance Festival.

As Journal writes, on Saturday, the 19th, transport there is provided for visitors from Zagreb on the free Pan Renaissance train. It will take its passengers to visit the Carlsberg Brewery and the Koprivnica Renaissance Festival.

Brewery Tour

The Pan train departs from the Zagreb Central Station on Saturday, August 19, at 10:15 a.m. (it is recommended to arrive at the station twenty minutes before departure) and arrives at Koprivnica at 11:32 a.m. All guests from Koprivnica station are then provided transport by bus to Carlsberg Croatia. From 12:00 to 2 p.m., you can enjoy excellent beer and tours of the brewery while learning about beer and cider production.

Rich Programme of the 2023 Koprivnica Renaissance Festival

After the visit to the brewery, buses will run to the venue of the Koprivnica Renaissance Festival for the rich program and an excellent atmosphere. The spaces surrounding the remains of the old Koprivnica fortress will be enlivened with original food from the Renaissance, performances by groups from different countries, traditional crafts, and attractions.

The Koprivnica Renaissance Festival combines the late medieval historical facts and originality of Koprivnica, Podravina, and Croatia with the heritage values of the Western European cultural civilization circle (of which Croatia is also a part). They are manifested through performing knightly, artisanal, and musical performances from almost ten European countries. The festival is a true example of developing the European identity of the City and Region.

The ramparts of Koprivnica, the remains of a former magnificent Renaissance anti-Ottoman fortress, are a silent and mystical witness to a time long gone. Maybe they are hiding an exciting secret, a story about unhappy love, or the courage of their defenders; perhaps they can show us how the inhabitants of old Koprivnica lived, fought, celebrated, or traded.

This tourist-historical and educational festival is the biggest spectacle of “living pictures” from the past in this part of Europe and is based on historical facts. Most of the content will be related to the 15th and 16th centuries, from which the Renaissance fortifications date back.

Plan Ahead

After the afternoon fun and socializing, the buses return to the train leaving for Zagreb at 8:24 p.m. The expected return to Zagreb is at 9:49 p.m. If you haven’t planned your weekend yet, now is the time. Head next Saturday, August 19, to Koprivnica on the Pan Renaissance train with a great program and beer!
