ZAGREB, May 20, 2018 – The 9th International Children and Youth Animation Film Festival will be held in two towns for the first time, Varaždin and Rijeka, reporters were told in Varaždin.
Nearly 700 animated films from 59 countries were submitted for competition in two sections: VAFI – films by children under 18, and RAFI – films for children and young people done by professionals. Eventually, 111 films were selected for VAFI and 77 for RAFI.
The RAFI films will be shown in Rijeka on May 28-30, while Varaždin will host the VAFI screenings from May 31 to June 3 for free.
About 80 guests will attend the festival. For the sixth time, UNICEF Croatia and the Office of the Croatian Children’s Ombudswoman will present the Blue VAFI award to the film best promoting children’s rights.
