The 13th “Rijeka Summer Nights +” festival will take place from 1 to 22 July. The “+” in its name represents the involvement of an even greater number of cultural institutions this year than usual. The Rijeka City Puppet Theatre, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Art-Cinema Rijeka, City Museum, Natural History Museum, Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Coast and the Croatian Museum of Tourism from Opatija are some of the participants, reports extravagant.hr on June 25, 2016.
Suffice it to say, the festival programme got richer too. Instead of being an event where only art performances are being enjoyed, it has become an interdisciplinary event for a much larger group of people.
Meanwhile, this is the 52nd year of the largest cultural and music event in this part of Croatia – Melodies of Istria and Kvarner. Unique because of its travelling character and because it nurtures the dialects of the region, the festival is a herald of the summer. This year, the singing caravan will set off from Rijeka, and visit Opatija, Punat, Kastav, ending its journey in Umag.
The summer beer garden of the Maritime Museum of the Croatian Coast had proven last year to be an ideal place to spend a hot summer evening, attracting a large number of citizens of Rijeka and their guests, who enjoyed beautiful atmosphere, a wide variety of craft beers and fine foods, as well as selected concerts and events. This year, the Summer at Guver decided to offer even more, so after the start of the programme with BEERanje on 17 and 18 June, the Summer Beer Garden is still open and will remain open throughout the season.
“Tastes of diversity” is a new feature this time around, a programme that brings together past and present, traditional foods and new beer styles, modern music and history. One day a week the beers from the best breweries of Italy, Austria, France, Hungary, Serbia and Germany will be presented.
