CNN Takes International Fence Building to the Next Level

Fence building between nations is becoming fashionable these day, but between continents? 

These are tense times in the region with the ongoing migrant crisis, and Europe’s freer borders and slowly getting used to fences and border restrictions. 

Over in the United States, a presidential hopeful wants to build a wall the length of the Mexico border. 

In fact, since the fall of the Berlin Wall, a staggering 64 border walls and fences have been built in 40 countries, reported The Economist recently. 

But nothing quite compares to the ambitious efforts of Australia to build a wall with Slovenia, according to CNN on February 29, 2016, despite being on a different continent several thousand miles away. It is the latest gaffe from the global media network, which has several high profile faux pax in the past, such as putting France in Ukraine. 

The country of course should have been Slovenia’s neighbour Austria, the latest development which is slowing down the migrant and refugee flow from Croatia to Germany, and the latest challenge to the open-border Schengen agreement.
