Osijek advances to Europa League playoffs after a 1:0 win against PSV at home in Osijek!
The second leg of the third-round qualifying match ended in a 1:0 win for Osijek at home, following the same outcome of the first leg played in Eindhoven, reports Index on August 3, 2017.
The only goal of the match was scored by Osijek’s Petar Bočkaj in the 25th minute. Hendrix knocked down Mudradžija 20 metres away from the goal; Bočkaj moved in from the right and scored a goal, taking Osijek to the next stage of the competition.
The second half of the match presented the guests with a single opportunity to level the score. Four minutes before the end of the match, De Jong sent the ball flying over the goal.
This isn’t only a historic win for Osijek, but also a historic defeat for PSV – the Dutch club hasn’t missed the main round of any European competition in 44 years. Tough luck, boys – you got a taste of Croatian football forces! Congrats, Osijek!
