We’re on a new round of our Croatian craft beer series, which is fitting as the beer we are introducing to you today is conveniently called Nova Runda, translating perfectly to “a new round”.
Nova Runda, a craft brewery founded by long time friends Mark Filipin and Miroslav Šuvak, is a result of their long term planning and production of ale type beers in Croatia. Nova Runda is currently produced in a rented facility, with hopes that they will one day have their own big time brewery.

The idea stimulated for Filipin and Šuvak when they felt there was a need to make a change in the Croatian beer market that was heavily dominated by other European beers. The production of Nova Runa is based on fresh, draft beers – completely doing away with the bottles.
Nova Runa has an award winning brewing team, along with beer lovers who appreciate the art and craft that goes into developing the brewing process. Paying fine attention to detail, Nova Runda always hopes to keep this concept within the brewery.
The main characteristics of an ale beer are that it is meant to ferment at higher temperatures than the conventional process, for example much different than a lager would. Because of the higher temperature, the yeast then ferments faster, making the ale sweeter than most other beers.
Big on the hops, this pale ale is brewed using a combination of 3 American hops: Magnum, Citra and Cascade. A bold beer with a finely pronounced aroma and a bitterness that is just right, this Nova Runda is a highly refreshing with a long finish. Alcohol content is 5.2%.
Drawing influences from the US for their pale ales, Nova Runda soon hopes to make a cask ale in honor of their British role models.
Nova Runda can be found in over 22 cities across Croatia, and we encourage you to drink this ale by the half liter.
