As we enter this week’s edition of TCN’s craft beer series, we are happy to introduce you to another craft brewery making waves from Zagreb,Varionica.

Literally meaning “boiling house”, Varionica was founded in Zagreb back in 2014, finally opening its doors after years of brewing, and happily joining the Croatian craft beer movement.

Founded by owners Matija Mrazek and Davor Simičić, Varionica was built under the ideology and urge to introduce this revolution to new varieties of hops, different malts, new yeasts, and a secret recipe to awaken craft beer enthusiasts’ curiosity even deeper into the exploration of beer.

Varionica produces many different styles of top quality beer in small batches, enjoying the fresh and varied tastes this type of production provides.

They currently craft a pale ale, which is full of flavor, amber in color, with a citrus and pine aroma. Their pale ale is 5.2% alcohol. They also craft a neon stout, which is full bodied with a coffee and dark chocolate aroma. This beer is 6.2% alcohol.

Varionica is currently carried in various locations throughout Croatia with a heavy dominance in Zagreb, boasting taps and bottles in in cafes, restaurants, and your good old fashioned watering holes.

Currently brewing a new series of crafts for our drinking pleasure, we are excited to see what Varionica has in store.
