While the celebrations have moved from Zagreb to other towns, the Croatian Air Force has released two videos from the main event.

The “Wings of Storm”, the aerial display team of the Croatian Air Force, participated on Monday in the welcoming party organised for the Croatian World Cup football team. Especially for this occasion, the “Wings of Storm” pilots performed a fly-over with five Pilatus PC-9M aircraft. In order to show their appreciation for the world’s second-best football team, all “Wings of Storm” pilots, as well as pilots of MiG-21 fighter pilots who welcomed the footballers’ plane as it entered Croatia, wore jerseys of the Croatian football team.

“We were honoured that we had an opportunity to greet and congratulate the Croatian team on their great success and everything they have demonstrated at the World Cup. They deserve our respect and admiration. After our salute to General Gotovina at his welcoming ceremony in Zadar, this is for sure our most memorable flight, filled with pride and honour that we can send a congratulatory message from the air on behalf of the victorious Croatian Army,” said Captain Darko Belančić, leader of the “Wings of Storm”.

“Here is how the fly-over looked from our perspective,” they wrote.

The Ministry of Defence has released another video, showing how the MiGs have welcomed the footballers’ plane as it entered Croatia’s airspace.
