July 2, 2023 – The new restricted Croatian Sunday shopping laws came into effect today. A guide to who is open and when, by Index.hr.
Today, the ban on working on Sundays came into force.
Stores will only be able to work 16 Sundays a year (this year, exceptionally, they have all 16 Sundays at their disposal until the end of the year) and they can determine which Sundays will be working.
Kiosks will be able to work every Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. At first they were supposed to sell only newspapers, but they will still be allowed to sell other things as well.
Below is a list of stores with their working Sunday schedule.
Kaufland
All Kaufland stores will be open every Sunday during July and August 2023.
Lidl
From July 2, Lidl Croatia will start implementing the law introducing a non-working Sunday. The following stores will not be open during the summer: Beli Manastir, Bjelovar, Čakovec, Daruvar, Donji Miholjac, Dugo Selo, Đakovo, Đurđevac, Ivanec, Ivanić Grad, Jastrebarsko, Karlovac, Koprivnica, Krapina, Križevci, Kutina, Našice, Nova Gradiška, Novska, Osijek, Petrinja, Požega, Samobor, Sesvete, Sisak, Slatina, Slavonski Brod, Sveta Nedelja, Valpovo, Varaždin, Velika Gorica, Vinkovci, Virovitica, Vrbovec, Vukovar, Zabok, Zagreb, Zaprešić and Županja.
All other Lidl stores remain open on Sundays during the summer.
Konzum
Konzum adapted the work plan of each individual store to the needs of the tourist season, holidays, micro-location events and other relevant factors. Information on the opening hours of all stores can be found here.
They will also place posters on the opening hours at the front doors of all stores about the opening hours, as well as on the second nearest Konzum store in case the one you are visiting is not open.
Regarding online purchases, delivery and collection on Sundays from 1.7. will not be possible, says Konzum’s website.
KTC
The KTC company with its 1,500 employees does not work on Sundays (holidays and public holidays) from January 1, 2020. They will continue to not work on Sundays, holidays and public holidays, KTC said.
Studenac
“In defining the Sunday working hours of the stores, we were guided by the needs of customers in each location, seasonality and a whole series of other criteria in order to maintain satisfaction and meet the expectations of customers. We will inform our customers in a timely manner about the upcoming working Sundays of Studenac stores.
Our customers will be able to find information on the Studenac website for each individual store, whether it is open next Sunday, as well as on the posters that will be hung on the doors of the stores. Additionally, if the store that the customer visits is not open the following Sunday, there will be a notice on the door about the nearest store that is open that Sunday,” they told us from Studenac.
dm
For stores that operate within shopping centers, working and non-working Sundays will be aligned with the working hours of individual shopping centers.
Most stores on the coast will be open on Sundays during the summer months, while most stores in the continental part of Croatia will be open during autumn and winter. At the same time, it is important to emphasize that stores that have not been open on Sundays until now will not be open on Sundays even after July 1, Ana Fostač-Krilčić, procurator and head of the Human Resources department at dm, told us.
In addition, they will adjust the working hours signs at the store entrances so that customers can find out the store’s opening hours on Sundays in a timely manner, while it is important to emphasize that they will still have the dm online shop at their disposal.

Lesnina XXXL
Most of their centers have not been open on Sundays until now. The three centers that have been working on Sundays until now: Lesnina Zagreb East, Zagreb West and Osijek will only work on 1 Sunday in July: 07/02, they told us from Lesnina XXXL. For the other months, they will later decide on working Sundays.
Pevex
