Advent in Zagreb will take place December 2 – January 7.
If you’re tired of this warm autumn (it looks like the weather is, the way it’s been raining) and you can’t wait for the crisp winter air to burn your cheeks while you get warm drinking mulled wine, have no fear, everyone’s favourite winter event, Advent u Zagrebu (Zagreb Christmas Market) is less than a month away! We ho-ho-honestly can’t wait!
Two-time winner of Europe’s Best Christmas Market, this year’s edition will undoubtedly be even more popular than the last, and it starts on December 2, 2017, and ends on January 7, 2018.
Some of the cool destinations you can visit this year include the most popular spots and everyone’s favourites:
- Ice Park: the most spectacular ice-skating rink in this part of Europe offers ice-skating mazes and tunnels and it is always filled with people waiting in line to get a chance to enjoy it
- Zrinjevac: one of Zagreb’s most popular parks, the place where it all started, will be the centre of attention once more. You can look forward to concerts at the musical pavilion and buy some unique souvenirs and decorations at the charming little houses.
- Strossmartre: Advent at the Strossmayer Promenade will definitely offer the best view over the glistening city
- Fuliranje (Fooling around): a charming little street near the Funicular is always the most crowded part of the Market, filled with the smell of ginger and mulled wine.
Cool (relatively) new spots, such as:
- Grič Tunnel: the Grič Tunnel will offer an extraordinary setting, a pathway to a magic winter wonderland, full of light installations, videos and music.
- Pop Up Winter Garden: Did you enjoy Pop Up Summer Garden? Well, you’re going to love its winter edition, hidden away in the Tuškanac Forest.
- Vranyczany Plateau: a picnic setting during summer, a wonderfully intimate little spot in the Upper Town
Or classics, including
- Klovićevi dvori: The gorgeous setting of the former Jesuit convent is another Advent place in the Upper Town offering a superb view over the city and the Cathedral and great photo ops in a special frame that will be set up there.
- European Square: this urban spot is great for listening to great music and having a shot or two of one of the many types of rakija you can find here.
- Christmas Balconies: the thing that will definitely instantly make you feel like you are on the idyllic set of a Christmas movie
