First Croatian Corn Maze Opens near Požega

Total Croatia News

The first Croatian maze in a corn field opened in Viškovci, halfway between Požega and Pleternica.

The Pilaš family farm, located near Požega, some 180 km from Zagreb, has become the first farm in Croatia to offer a maize maze (don’t you just love saying maize maze?), making children, and their parents alike, excited to get lost, Punkufer reported on August 9.

The pattern in the 8,500 m square area looks like it is circle-shaped, but, if you look more closely, you’ll see that it actually looks like two pigs.

Owner Branko Pilaš says that the maze changes every year, and it is intended to test children’s agility, speed, and orientation, but also get to know different ways of cultivating plants and taking care of the animals at a Slavonian farm.

Birthday parties with animators and competitions such as corn toss or potato sack race can also be organised.

Some children saw pigs there for the first time in their lives, and there are several types of animals you can meet if the temperature’s not too high.

When entering the maze, you get a map that helps you find your way. Mr Pilaš’ son is currently the fastest – he managed to find his way out of the maze in two minutes, while it normally takes ten to twenty.

If you get lost, there are tall hunting lodges from which you can be located and you will get help so you can get out to safety.

The maze is open from June to October 31, when the field will be cut down and a new one will be designed.
