The power plant will cover the electricity needs of users of the Development Centre and Technology Park.
A 30kW solar energy power plant has been installed on the roof of the Development Centre and Technology Park in Križevci in northern Croatia. This is the first such power plant in Croatia which was financed exclusively by citizens providing micro-loans, reports Večernji List on August 2, 2018.
The next step is the launch of commercial operations. It is expected that the power plant will cover the electricity needs of the users of the Development Centre and Technology Park.
Križevci is the first town in Croatia which has launched and implemented a group project for investing in renewable energy sources under the micro loan model. In just ten days, the project leaders raised the amount of 230,000 kuna, which was enough for the construction of the power plant.
The investment was open to all persons who were ready to provide a loan for a period of ten years. During that period, they will get the principal back, together with interest of 4.5 percent.
The main organiser and the initiator of the project is the Green Energy Cooperative (ZEZ), with the support of the “Start something of your own” programme led by REA North, which drafted the feasibility study for a 30kW power plant, as part of the COMPOSE project funded by the Interreg MED, Greenpeace, Terra Hub and the Town of Križevci.
The project has also been supported by the European Federation of Renewable Energy Cooperatives (REScoop.eu) and the European Association of Energy Cities.
