Fjaka does not need much explanation to those of us in Dalmatia. It is the ‘art of doing nothing,’ a lifestyle trend mastered in the region by all. Similar to the Spanish siesta, or Italian dolce far niente, it encourages you to sit back, relax, and embrace the sweetness of nothingness.
Fjaka has become a buzz-word today, and international media have caught on to our Dalmatian secret, so much so that it has become a lifestyle brand recognized near and far.
Late last year, the UK market was enhanced by FYAKA, a brand new webshop selling exclusively Croatian designs. And it does not feature just any Croatian brands, but those whose products are specially designed and manufactured following ‘slow living’.
“FYAKA is a platform for manufacturers, designers, and crafters of products made in Croatia, made out of natural materials, in small quantities, and mostly by hand.
Each of the products should help us unwind, as they have been specifically curated to build the world of slow-living, emphasizing small things, slow moments, being mindful and present,’ explains FYAKA on their website.
The webshop began as a way to fulfill the owners and take their minds away from stressful situations.
“We decided to start a new business which would help us keep connected with our home-country while developing business in the UK.
Not only do we all need to stop and take a pause, but we need to experience life in a slower and more mindful way. Each of the products should bring peace and help us unwind; they have been specifically curated to build the world of slow-living,” they continue.
All brands on FYAKA are 100% Croatian.
“What is unique about these products is that they all come from Croatia and carry a certain tradition embedded in them. We are here as a connection between suppliers and people who want to invest in good quality products which last and bring a special heartwarming feeling to their homes.”
Today, you can find HYPERsocks, eco-friendly and vegan cosmetics 757, plant accessory brand Green&Out, handcrafted crochet toys Mala Igra, natural-made backpacks Pepiere, statement art by Maja Tomljanovic, and artisan ceramics by Terra Ceramica.
