Participants can submit up to three photos taken anywhere in Croatia
On March 1, 2018, the Croatian County Association launched the third edition of their annual photo contest titled ‘I love my county’. The project aims to define regional identity through photography, presenting every Croatian county with a recognisable visual outlook to match.
“We’re inviting all young artists and creative types to document distinctive traits of their regions on camera and submit selected photos to the contest. They should aim for interesting details, natural wonders or cultural and natural heritage, and send in the photographs using the application form on our official Facebook page”, the association stated.
Any prizes? GoPro Hero5 cameras, to be awarded in two categories: one best photograph will be selected by a popular vote, the other by a panel of judges. The latter category also involves prizes for those who end up placing 2nd to 10th best.
The jury is headed by Mare Milin, one of the most acclaimed professional photographers in Croatia. She’ll be joined by representatives of Međimurje County, Karlovac County and Virovitica-Podravina County, along with last year’s competition winner Alan Špiljak who’s stepping in as an honorary member of the jury.
Looking to participate with your own view of Croatia? You can submit up to three photos that you’ve taken anywhere in the country. And no cheating – the only technical shenanigans you’re allowed are minimal corrections such as cropping or playing with colours and contrast. You have until April 20 to either pick some of your previous works or take a new award-winning photo – apply here by clicking on ‘sudjelujte’ (participate). Good luck!
