From summer in the city to winter wonderland, Dubrovnik is the city that can do it all. From Dino Merlin to Linđo to DuRun10k – what can you expect from Croatia’s southernmost destination this New Year?
It goes without saying that Dubrovnik is a special place to be at any time of the year, but for those of us who live there, winter, cooler temperatures are a godsend and in my opinion, winter is one of the best times to be in the Pearl of the Adriatic. Dubrovnik’s winter festival is relatively new in comparison to its famed summertime cousin, but it’s growing ever more popular among both locals and visitors.

As DuList writes on the 30th of December, 2017, Dino Merlin, Pravila igre (Rules of the game) and the Songkillers will take Dubrovnik into 2018 with much-anticipated performances on Sunday, December the 31st at 21:00 on the most beautiful street in the world – Stradun.
A night on Stradun will be preceded by the kid’s New Year celebrations with the Animino group, who will perform a breakdance show starting at 11:00 in front of the church of Saint Blaise (Sveti Vlaho) in the very heart of the Old City. The children’s concert itself will begin on Stradun as early as 10:30.
The traditional, much loved folk ensemble Linđo, the Libertas choir and the Dubrovnik’s city music will perform at noon, and then at 12:15, a cocktail show will be held.
A day earlier, on Saturday, December the 30th, The Frajle will get the city into the New Year mood with a concert at 21:00 in front of the Church of Saint Blaise. Along with the main program taking place on Stradun, it isn’t to be forgotten that New Year’s Eve will also be celebrated at Lazareti, and their program begins on the 31st of December at 22:00.
On the first day of 2018, a beautiful New Year’s concert from the one and only Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra will be performed at noon on Stradun, and as per tradition, oysters and sparkling wine will have their place too. The orchestra will be conducted by Ivan Josip Skender, with a performance by soprano Nikolina Pinko.
