After Istria was represented by 75 olive oils in 2018, this year, the region became the best for olive oil once again.
Last weekend in Rome, the world’s only guide for extra virgin olive oil with certified quality, Flos Olei 2019, was officially presented, reports HRTurizam on December 11, 2018.
This year’s presentation was particularly interesting for Istria, as 79 Istrian olive-growers were included in the new edition of the famous guide, making Istria the best region of extra virgin olive oil in the world for the fourth year in a row.
In addition to the success mentioned above, Istria celebrated yet another significant award in the category of the TOP 20 best oils in the world. Namely, Oleum Maris from Vodnjan was declared the best up and coming brand in the world.
In the main exhibition hall of the exclusive Westin hotel, the Tourist Board of Istria County set up shop for the promotion of the region, where information materials were distributed, and numerous Istrian products were presented to the public.
“It was a very useful occasion to meet many buyers and the EDMU dealers in the world, which will certainly contribute to the fact that Istria is even further positioned and branded as an international destination of extra virgin olive oil,” emphasized the Tourist Board of Istria County.
In addition to the Tourist Board of Istria County, Poreč Agrolaguna, Bura Brew brewery, Chiavalon Winery, Novigrad olive grower Al Torcio and Oleum Maris were also present.
The Flos Olei guide features 500 world producers from 50 countries around the world, with editions in both Italian and English. Last year, Istria counted 75 olive oils on the list, which affirmed its place as the top region for olive oil then. In 2018, two Istrian olive oils also placed among the very top of the world – Chiavalon Olive Oil and O.P.G. Eno Zubin in Umag.
