June 13, 2023 – Croatia is full of characters, and it has been a pleasure to meet so many interesting personalities over the years. None more so than celebrity snapper, Jadran Lazic.
Many a normal coffee morning has been lit up by fantastic stories from a new arrival. None more so than a young chap called Jadran Lazic, a very unassuming Splicanin with Los Angeles address, who divides his time between life in California and looking after his precious olive grove and lavender field on the top of the island of Hvar. It has been a privilege to join Jadran harvesting his lavender most of the last ten years.
And, boy, does he have some stories to tell. I first heard about him as the chap who brought a teenage Jodie Foster to Hvar back in 1979. But the story that really got me hooked was how he became the only representative of Western media to get to the funeral of the Soviet leader, Leonid Brezhnev, back in 1982. It is quite a story, one which I hope does Jadran justice in the latest installment by the Fat Vlogger.
And if you have ever wondered what it is like to harvest lavender, getting up at 4am once a year in early July has been very educational and good for the soul. Watching Jadran’s lavender plants grow over the past decade has been a true pleasure. Take a look at his slice of lavender paradise on top of Croatia’s premier island in the video below.
