London Gets its First Dalmatian Pop-Up Restaurant

Venturin will open mid-October, and is headed by the respected Croatian chef Maja Mačković – known from the Hvar restaurant Zlatna Školjka.

The London culinary scene has long been known for its fusion of diverse destinations with restaurants boasting flavors from around the world. It’s about time that Croatia joined that map, and they will with the new pop-up restaurant Venturin.

A pop-up that will serve Dalmatian specialties, Venturin will be led by respected chef Maja Mačković from highly acclaimed Hvar restaurant Zlatna Školjka (Golden Shell). It is also worth noting that Maja is the daughter of Ivan Buzolić, the first Croatian international culinary judge and World Master Chef, and also the main man at Zlatna Školjka.

The whole concept of the pop-up is designed to be recognizably Croatian, with namely Dalmatian cuisine. The highly awarded “chefica” (as we would say in Croatian) is internationally recognized from her culinary work, and the pop-up will aim to present, serve, conjure and clarify the principles of Dalmatian cuisine with a focus on the most delicious snacks – enriched with original details such as olive oil, spices and other key Dalmatian ingredients.

The Venturin pop-up will be incorporated into the Pelican Cafe & Bar, located at 300 Battersea Park Road in London. Venturin opens in mid-October, and will work specifically on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 18h to midnight.

To further enrich this gastronomic story, the pop-up will be spiced up with a display of archival photographs that best illustrate the Dalmatian island atmosphere, donated from the collection of Maja Dujmić Pavletić. The project was organized by Sanja Britt Jusić, and more information can be found on the official Facebook page.
