No stranger to anyone visiting the coast of Croatia is that we pride ourselves on our beaches, here we take a look at Brač. The summer season is a blissful paradise for travelers and locals alike. Basking in the salty sea with crystal blue waters is something we long for, and lucky for us, that temptation is easy to conquer.

Perhaps fortunately and unfortunately is the amount of beaches we are tasked with in Croatian paradise, making it nearly impossible to pick just one. Lucky for you we felt we would make it a bit easier and narrow it down to the best five beaches per island, city, and coastal playground. Here are our picks for Brač.

Lovrečina: Located on the island just 4 kilometers from Postira, Lovrečina is a sandy beach, with the sand stretching nearly 100 meters from the shore. Set in a deeply carved bay, this beach is accessible by road, footbath, or right from the seaside. Because we all want some good shade, Lovrečina has an oasis of shady pine trees, making a sheltered forest utopia for those that wish to escape the sun. Although there are no fixed activities on this beach, you can definitely set out to make your own. Croatian favorite picigin is popular to play here, and volleyball is enjoyed by many. Lovrečina has a restaurant and cafe onsite to ensure you won’t be hungry and of course you can tame your sweet tooth with some icy cold desserts.

Zlatni Rat: Located in Bol, this is arguably the most photographed and popular beach to go to along the coast. What translates to “golden horn”, Zlatni Rat has a tip that stretches out to the Adriatic, making its shape literally look like the tip of a horn. Due to strong currents and wind conditions, this tip actually changes formation, constantly being re-shaped depending on the weather. Boasting smaller pebbles than other beaches on the island, Zlatni Rat has crystal clear water shifting from different shades of blues. To further brag about the photo opportunities here, this beach is backed by the Vidova Gora mountains and looks out onto Hvar island – does it really get any better? Zlatni Rat is great for a variety of sports such as parasailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, and jet skiing and as you would imagine there is no lack of restaurants and cafes for your dining pleasures.

Povlja: Situated 10 kilometers east from the ferry port at Sumartin, Povlja is a village that arose in a deep natural harbor, boasting a cove with the same name. The inhabitants of the village pride themselves in wine making, olive growing and fishing, and have done their part to keep Povlja as pristine as can be. What is unique about this area is that it is surrounded by many deep natural bays, giving you plentiful options for beaches and swimming. Many sun seeking enthusiasts go to the bays of Tavna, Smokvica, Ticja luka, and Tatinja just outside of the Povlja village to embark on their beach filled journeys, and there is also a safe port in the Povlja cove itself. The town of Povlja has many restaurants, cultural sites and recreational activities for you to enjoy.

Paklina: Located near the western end of the ever so famous Zlatni Rat beach we find Paklina. A naturist beach, Paklina is an oasis for rocky coves and bays with sandy and pebbled beaches. The background of Paklina beach is covered by lush forest to provide you with shade, and here you can find yourselves in ultimate relaxation mode. The nearest restaurants and cafes are 200 meters away, and you won’t find any water sports or activities at this beach. A beach to feel isolated and at peace, Paklina is just right for you.

Supetar: With 3500 inhabitants, Supetar is the biggest settlement on the island of Brač, and with that ensures you a plethora of beaches. Old stone houses covered by olive trees and vineyards make up a lot of the town, and we can’t deny the rich history that lies within architecture. For beaches, you can take your pick. Vela Luka beach boasts two beaches surrounded by pine forest with a sandy seabed making it great for families and non-swimmers. Tri Mosta is the most popular beach in Supetar, with a clean sea and pebbled shore. The town beach “Banj” is located in the heart of Supetar, with shallow waters and plenty of entertainment activities. Vlačica is most popular among locals, located in the heart of the town. Acapulco beach is close to the ferry port, and is an artificial beach made of pebbles. Vrilo beach is located on the eastern exit of the ferry port, boasting a clean sea, larger pebbles, and is another local favorite. Lastly we have Babin Laz, a bay that opens toward the north. Here you will find larger pebbles with a sandy seabed and thick pine forest surrounding you, with the number of bathers kindly restricted.
