Novi Zagreb to Get a Facelift

Total Croatia News

All three projects have met the same fate: the residents are against them, and some have already begun collecting signatures for a petition to stop their construction.

One of the most attractive sites south of Sava, across the street from the Museum of Contemporary Art and Avenue Mall, will become the location of a glass business building with eight floors, Poslovni.hr reports on August 8.

It is one of three large projects, all of which are a few hundred metres apart, which will soon change the appearance of Novi Zagreb.

A residential-business building in Središće is also being built, and a business centre will be built in Siget. All three projects have met the same fate: the residents are against them, and some have already begun collecting signatures for a petition, others are protesting, but they haven’t convinced the investors to give up yet.

Judging by the deadlines on the construction permits, the complex in Sopot should be finished in six years, and investors’ representatives were not able to confirm the exact date when the construction will begin because a water main needs to be relocated.

A contract with Vodoopskrba i odvodnja (Water Supply and Drainage) has been signed, the funding has been prepared, so finishing all the paperwork is the only thing left before the works can start. Recently, the appearance of the building between the Siget and Freud Streets has been presented, and two buildings will be demolished in order to build it. The tender was announced by the investor, Castrum nekretnine, presided over by Vlado Leko, former vice president of Zagreb Holding Supervisory Board, and architect Silva Grubešić Buterin won the contract. The commercial part of the building will have two, and the business part will have five floors.

The Meandar business-residential project in Središće should be completed by the spring of 2018. More than 70 percent of the 367 apartments have already been booked or sold, and they cost between EUR 1,890 and 2,190 per square meter.
