One of Croatia’s most beautiful national parks will be showcased in exhibitions in Medjimurje and Skradin.

As SibenikIN writes on the 18th of May, 2018, an exhibition showcasing the beauty of NP Krka which has been brought to fruition as a result of a joint project between Krka National Park and the Šibenik State Archives will be opened in the State Archives of Medjimurje in Štrigova on Friday, May the 18th, on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 2018’s popular Urbanovo event.

The exhibition speaks of a specific and very sensitive karst area of the Krka river, an area in which various evolving forms of human presence and activity have been evolving from prehistory. The geological specificity of the karst in this area was mirrored in medieval fortified cities with stone deposits found along the Krka river which were once owned by wealthy, noble families. These structures once possessed temporary defensive functions.

The exhibition, which begins today, will showcase both the natural and the cultural heritage of the Krka National Park in light of new and intense archaeological and archival research, through both naturally occurring and man-made creatures.

On Monday, May the 21st at 12:00 at the Krka National Park in Skradin, an exhibition entitled ”Krka through the eye of the researcher: the river in seven stories” will open, which will complete its journey in the towns located along the beautiful Krka river itself. On this occasion, at 12:30, at Trg Male Gospe in Skradin, the Birikina Association from Pula will perform a well-known play which tells the story of the legend of the forbidden love between Stana and Pavle Mandušić.

Through seven rounds, this exhibition aims to highlight the importance and beauty of the Krka river through the eyes and experiences of ethnographers, archeologists, historians, artists, geographers, inhabitants, and its many visitors.
