Split’s latest lover hails from the Big Apple.
Known as the 13th oldest newspaper in the United States, American daily favorite the New York Post has discovered the Dalmatian capital.
In their piece titled “Head to this Croatian destination lickety-Split” on July 17, 2017, the NY Post’s Jennifer Ceaser raves about the spectacular Roman ruins, “sun-splashed beaches,” and Game of Thrones authenticity while assuring readers that Split is becoming one of the hottest Croatian destinations in Dalmatia.
While Ceaser encourages readers to visit the Roman-era remnants of the Old Town (for free), she specifically points out that a trip to Diocletian’s basement is in order, especially if you’re a fan of GOT’s Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons.
For beaches, Cesaser recommends Bačvice (but mostly for eateries and nightlife) and if you’re looking for seclusion, head to Marjan’s Jezinac.
Moving along to the most important topic – food – where did Cesaer find her favorite Split dining establishments?
For starters, Cesaer recommends the smoked risotto with asparagus and prawns at Bokeria, the sous-vide chicken breast and zucchini noodles at the Riva’s Brasserie on 7, and the cheese plate and crispy gnocchi at Mat:Toni.
For libations? Drink at Zinfandel Food and Wine Bar for their Croatian wine tasting flights, or head to Diocletian’s Wine House for their 101 different bottles, and last but not least? Marvlvs Library Jazz bar is the perfect 15th-century setting for craft beer and Croatian wine.
