Pulaparking Wins Award for Highest Number of PayDo Transactions in Croatia

As Glas Istre/Milan Pavlovic writes on the 18th of October, 2019, at the conference organised by the Zagreb-based IT company Infoart in Skradin for its partners in the Croatian parking industry, the City of Pula and Pulaparking received a special award for the largest number of PayDo transactions made in Croatia during the past tourist season.

It is a valuable recognition that Pulaparking has earned in competition with more than sixty cities across Croatia, which includes all major tourist destinations along the Adriatic coast which allow for payment of parking through the popular “PayDo” payment platform.

PayDo is a national parking payment platform that makes it easier and cheaper for customers to use the mobile app’s payment service. It does not use SMS protocol in order to complete payments for parking, so users must have an internet connection at the time of payment, which is ideal for users who for some reason or another aren’t able to pay for parking via SMS at that time, such as tourists, and certain categories of business and private users for whom they only the solution to pay for parking was the old way – with coins and by going in search of parking appliances around car parks.

Infoart from Zagreb introduced a new service that significantly simplified the payment of parking at the beginning of last year, and among the first cities where citizens and guests were allowed to use the novelty was the Istrian city of Pula.

Pulaparking’s director, Dr. Branislav Bojanić, recognised the new opportunity as a digital transformation from the point of view of the profession of providing parking services, as well as the financial growth of the company.

Namely, the PayDo service is ultimately more cost-effective than the existing SMS mode of mobile payment for both Pulaparking’s service users and drivers alike. In a tourist destination such as Pula, this model has brought extra value to foreign tourists who cannot pay for parking by text message for whatever reason, and very often have a problem with having a lack of coins to pay the exact amount for parking appliances.

As such, it’s hardly surprising that they have shown the greatest satisfaction with the possibility of mobile parking payments and were the most numerous PayDo customers of all. Promotional activities and brochures from Pulaparking have certainly contributed to this, which were distributed to tourists and others for the purpose of expanding tourist and business offers, as well as positioning Pula as a “smart city” both during the season and outside of it.
