The Rector’s Palace and Mali Arsenal in Zadar have been selected as finalists for this year’s InAVation Awards among 300 entries from all over the world, reports Zadarski.hr on December 20, 2017.
The InAVation Awards aim to recognise projects that employ technological design and effective use of audio-visual standards. The winners will be announced on February 6, 2018, at a gala night in Amsterdam.
Zadar’s renowned landmarks made the finals in two separate categories: the Rector’s Palace is a finalist in the category of Leisure and Entertainment Facilities. The palace has recently undergone the first stage of a reconstruction project worth close to 36 million kuna, entirely provided by EU funds. The edifice is about to enter the second stage of the reconstruction, with the future Museum 2 spanning over 12.000 square metres once the project is finished.
Mali Arsenal is competing in the category of the best Visitor Attraction. The cultural-historic monument was first mentioned in the 13th century as the entrance to the medieval fortress Kaštel. It has recently been renovated and now stands as a multimedia centre that presents the historic development of Zadar’s fortresses in a way that entices visitors to engage in research and games. The project was also financed by the EU in the amount of 8.8 million euro.
“While the list represents some of the most high profile and prestigious projects completed around the world in the last year; it also picks up a few smaller, ingenious and unique applications of cutting edge technology conceived by the sharpest brains in consulting and integration”, says a statement published on the InAVation Awards website.
