May the 15th, 2024 – The much loved Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish is preparing for yet another new adventure – RokPoluotok.

The new sporting-educational adventure of geography professor and food blogger Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish and the RokOtok Association will begin on June the 23rd! There will be accompanying workshops across the east coast of Istria and swimming more than a hundred kilometres from Preluk to Pula!

RokPoluotok will kick off on Sunday, June the 23rd at 18:00 on the beach in Preluk. This is a brand new project of the RokOtok and Ribafish Association – RokPoluotok, and it will involve swimming around the Istrian peninsula. It will begin with an unofficial swim in a length of two hundred metres. In addition to various educational workshops, socialising with children and adults, as well as numerous nature clean-up actions and interesting games, an average of five kilometres per day will be swum until this year’s ultimate goal is reached. Then comes the warm welcome in Pula on July the 17th.

Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish is a a well-known Croatian food blogger, host and professor of geography at rest. After swimming to all of Croatia’s many inhabited islands in the period from 2019 to 2022, and following a one-year break, he has started a new campaign in which he will try to swim around the largest Croatian peninsula. The swimming will be divided into two seasons, i.e. the summers of 2024 and 2025. Next summer, the plan is to swim from Pula to Savudrija. As it is a geographical and not a geopolitical project, the swimming will include part of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in addition to the area of Istria County. It’s important to emphasise that these are large stretches, exclusively for professional swimmers accompanied by a boat, so swimming with children will only be organised on the beaches.

Over about a hundred kilometres in 24 days of swimming, Ribafish and other professional swimmers will visit the most beautiful beaches of Primorje, Kvarner and Istria through 18 sections and hold 12 interesting workshops with an emphasis on ecology, nature protection and the preservation of our planet. They will also organise a search for hidden treasures, and geocaches. There will also be actions undertaken to clean up the beaches and the environment. In certain locations, those actions will be done to clean the sea and engage in reforestation.

Every child who comes to the workshop will receive gifts, which, like the start of the project itself, were made possible by sponsors Sport Vision Croatia (together we’re cleaning Plominska port on May the 26th!), Raiffeisen Bank in Croatia, Hyundai, the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kaufland Croatia, Fina, Rio Mare, and donors White Shark, Speedo Croatia, Geocaching Croatia, Offset.hr, Projekt O2, Fish Clash, EM®, and Doppelherz Croatia.

The message they want to send out is that both children and adults need more quality socialising time and time spent in out nature. Through lectures, workshops and socialising on the beaches, they will try to spend a few hours outdoors playing and having fun with the intention of proving to everyone that everything is better when there is balance and when more time is spent in the fresh air instead of in front of screens.

RokOtok has otherwise already received numerous awards. It was declared the most beautiful story of the summer of 2019, and Domagoj Jakopović Ribafish received recognition from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, Local Hero and Ponos Hrvatske (The Pride of Croatia). During the cold part of the year, with the Cleaning Bears Association, hundreds of environmental cleaning actions were carried out, including the now legendary Čikolov, where people come and clean up the environment and remove huge amounts of non-degradable cigarette butts.

The message is clear: “You’re all invited to support this project. Come and hang out, swim and do something nice for a better world around us. See you this summer from June the 23rd to July the 17th at RokPoluotok!”
