April the 19th, 2025 – An expensive renovation is on the horizon for the formerly widely celebrated Hotel Plitvice. The company Radnik will restore the complex to its former glory.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, following the announcement of the procurement procedure, it is now finally known that Hotel Plitvice is going to get a proverbial face lift. The complex located within Croatia’s oldest and largest national park, Plitvice Lakes National Park, and will be restored by the Križevci-based company Radnik for just over 27 million euros.
The other bidders were Kamgrad, Reliance from Split, the Modulor consortium from neighbouring Serbia, and as well as Texo Molior from Croatia’s southernmost town of Cavtat. Their bids were rejected as being either invalid or too high, with Radnik being selected.
Hotel Plitvice was otherwise built on the grounds of the beautiful Plitvice Lakes National Park between 1954 and 1958, according to the vision of the project’s author, celebrated architect Marijan Haberle. The hotel was originally considered an architectural gem, and in the following decades, it underwent certain reconstructions, but it seems it was never quite enough.
The new and very extensive works involved in the renovation of Hotel Plitvice should restore the glory it once had in Haberle’s original and stunning architectural idea.
The project envisages the renovation, reconstruction and revitalisation of Hotel Plitvice in full accordance with its monumental status. The works will be carried out over a contract period of 30 months. This is the time that the selected bidder, Radnik, will be provided with in order to transform the hotel into a luxury, five-star tourist accommodation complex with 38 accommodation units, a wellness centre and other facilities.
It should be stated that Radnik from Križevci still needs to sign on the dotted line on the contract with the client before the heavy machinery sets off on its journey through the most visited national park in the Republic of Croatia.
