The City of Šibenik started the implementation of a pilot project for the sea and land route: Mandalina – Šibenik – Martinska in the middle of last week.
As Morski writes on the 13th of July, 2019, the new maritime/land line runs between Mandalina – Šibenik bus station – Šibenik waterfront (riva) – Martinska, and then back from Martinska – Šibenik waterfront – Šibenik bus station – Mandalina. The return ticket price will cost a symbolic 10 kuna, and it will be available for purchase when on board.
For the first five days of the project, all those who can provde they’re residents of Šibenik-Knin County will be able to enjoy free transport on this new line. They can prove their residence within the county by presenting their personal identification card which should attest to that fact.
In the procedure of simple procurement for the provision of passenger transport services, the bidder AvalonYachting.d.o.o was selected. This company will transport passengers using the ”Avalon” vessel as many as six times a day, from Monday to Sunday, seven days a week according to the already fixed schedule.
”Avalon” has a capacity of forty seats.
Upon completion of the pilot project, a report will be produced on the activities carried out, which will determine the general level of demand for such a type of transport in the area of the city, and the project will then be fully implemented over a period of time, more specifically until the 2nd of September, 2019.
The pilot project aims to promote the multimodality of passengers in the area of the city by linking different points of interest in the general area and to present maritime routes as an efficient and worthwhile addition to other forms of transport that already exist in and around the city, as was highlighted from the city administration.
