City of Split Looking to Develop Mobile Application Worth 1.5 Million Kuna

The City of Split has announced a competition to develop the ICT solution Split Smart City Suite. 

The estimated value of the application is HRK 1,500,000 plus VAT, and should represent an upgrade to the existing city parking application and include a number of new services for citizens and tourists: Smart Bus, Municipal, City Events, Information and News, Business Premises and Smart Bike, reports Dalmacija Danas on January 15, 2019. 

The Split parking application (Android & iOS) was developed by Profico in early 2018 and includes a system that, based on the sensors installed in part of the parking locations in the city, displays free parking spots in the city, and allows you to pay for parking and report illegal parking jobs. 

Thanks to the new ‘Smart Bus’ part of the application, citizens will find it much easier to plan their rides on public transport, as apart from the general information about the lines and departures, the new application will also display the buses on GPS coordinates and estimate the arrival time to the desired station.

Users of this new app will also be able to report municipal and traffic offenses anonymously, view all city events and service information and access a module to view information about business premises owned by the city. The new application should also integrate the application for managing the public bicycle system in Split, and should allow the future integration of additional services, assuming they have an API.

Logging in to the app does not have to be required, but optional, and the app must be available for Android and iOS. 

While this is all the information we have so far, we’ll be sure to update this space for the tech-gurus in the city who might be interested in developing such an application for the City of Split.
