It’s a big year for public transport in Split!

In the history of “Promet”, 2019 will be remembered as the year that two tenders for the purchase of new buses will most likely be concluded. Even the oldest employees of this utility company, which is in their eighth decade of business in Central Dalmatia, cannot remember such a feat, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on February 21, 2019.

After the contracts were signed for 34 new buses under the project “No regret”, which is entirely financed from EU funds and should see buses on the city streets in August, the even better news is that a competition has been announced to purchase 18 more buses by ITU mechanisms within the urban agglomeration project.

The value of this contract is estimated at almost 44 million kuna, with the new additions to the Promet fleet expected in the spring of next year. Of these buses, ten will be hinged and while eight will be “solo” vehicles.

All interested companies can submit their bids by the deadline of March 26 when they will be opened on the premises of the public transport operator in Kopilica. The delivery deadline is one year from the day the contract is signed, so considering this data, we can expect that 18 buses will be delivered by the spring of 2020.

The text of the public tender states that each applicant must submit a bid guarantee for both categories – articulated and “solo” buses – amounting to slightly more than one million kuna in the form of a bank guarantee or cash deposit.

To date, the most significant renewal of the Promet fleet in the last quarter of a century occurred 11 years ago, when the utility company was reinforced with 40 city buses worth a total of 13 million euro.

With these two procurements, Promet will be richer by 52 buses, worth a total value of 110 million kuna.
