ZAGREB, March 30, 2018 – Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Friday offered his best wishes to believers who celebrate Easter according to the Gregorian calendar as well as Jewish believers for Passover.
In his Easter note, he said the message of the biggest Christian holiday was a call for tolerance and understanding, and that the government would push for unity and solidarity in society as well as decision making for the well-being of all Croats.
In his Passover note, Plenković said the holiday “which celebrates deliverance from slavery reminds us of the importance of freedom as a fundamental human value, and this is the universal message of Passover which must not be forgotten.”
President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković on Friday also issued messages offering their best wishes to Croatians in the country and abroad as well as the Catholic clergy for Easter.
“May the spiritual atmosphere of Easter encourage us to strengthen our faith and spread togetherness and compassion to the benefit of all people in our homeland so that we could build a society of solidarity and mutual understanding,” Grabar-Kitarović said in her message.
Noting that Easter time should serve as encouragement in the everyday care for and solidarity with the weak and those in need in the family and among one’s friends, as well as in the community, Jandroković wished a happy Easter to all “Croatian men and women in the homeland and abroad, in the hope that they will celebrate it in the spirit of togetherness with their loved ones.”
