It has surely been the summer of celebrity sightings in Croatia. Which leading light will visit us next?
Apparently, Hollywood sweetheart Julia Roberts! The 49-year-old allegedly could not withstand the charm of the Adriatic coast and is said to have arrived in Split accompanied by her husband and cinematographer Daniel Moder and their three children, reports 24 Sata on August 2, 2017.
Roberts’ husband is said to be in Croatia scouting film locations for the upcoming “Ibiza” which will be released on Netflix. The romantic comedy will follow the crazy fans of a world-renowned DJ.
The celebrity actress’s husband also recently visited Pag to see “Croatia’s Ibiza.” Moder checked out the club atmosphere of Zrće, Novalja’s party beach, and the Aquarius club which will soon be turned into a movie set. Before Split, the family spent four days in Belgrade.
The Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is also in Croatia at the moment, taking a nice cycling holiday away from the politics of the UK. You can read more about that and the strange correlation to Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson here.

Known as the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Will Smith will arrive in Poreč at the end of the month to launch his return to the music scene. An event Will Smith fans have been waiting to see for decades, Poreč has been selected as the first city in the world to see Smith take the stage as a musician again – a great honor and recognition for Croatia, we think. Will Smith will perform alongside DJ Jazzy Jeff at the MTV Summerblast Festival which will be held from August 25-26, 2017.
Dubrovnik recently attracted the widow of Steve Jobs, Lauren Powell, who visited the pearl of the Adriatic after an Istrian cruise. In the company of her boyfriend, former Mayor of D.C. Adrian Fenty, the couple sailed the Adriatic on Steve Jobs’ 100 million EUR super yacht Venus.
In June this year, the star of the series “CSI: Miami,” Eva LaRue visited Split, Hvar, Korčula, Dubrovnik and Zadar. She is said to be returning to the Adriatic again this month. NBA superstar Paul George was also spotted in Split last week with Serbian girlfriend Daniela Rajić.
After performing at the Pula Arena, Sting and his son, singer Joe Sumner, stayed in Croatia for two extra days. In Pula, they rested, and in the village of Lun on the island of Pag, they went to see the olive trees Sting cultivates on his own estate in Tuscany. Did you know that Lun boasts the oldest olive grove in the Mediterranean and some of the trees are more than 2000 years old?
Legendary Hollywood actor John Malkovich was spotted recharging his batteries in Istria where he called Opatija his “heaven on Earth.”
World-renown DJ David Guetta first touched down in Split to perform in front of thousands at the Ultra Europe music festival. Guetta chose to sail the Adriatic after the festival, and images of Guetta’s luxury yacht flooded social networks.
Real Madrid footballer Marcelo Vieira arrived in Dubrovnik with his wife, actress Clarisse Alves, sons Enzo and Liam, and relatives from Brazil earlier this summer. They walked Stradun, photographed with fans, and came on the recommendation of teammates Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić. Marcelo also attended Kovačić’s wedding.
“King’s Landing” was also enjoyed by Victoria Secret Angel Josephine Skriver and Haitian model Raquel Pelissier, and British actor Idris Elba performed as a DJ at Dubrovnik club Revelin.
One of Hollywood’s best, Leonardo DiCaprio enjoyed three days on the island of Korčula in Lumbarda during the middle of July, traveling on the luxurious yacht “Kismet.”
The 95-meter super yacht has six attractively decorated cabins, a jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool, heliport, black marble deck, beach bar, cinema, gym and aerobics gym, and even an elevator. It can accommodate up to 12 guests who can also enjoy jet skiing, scuba diving or spa treatments.
The yacht is described as a combination of “luxury and perfection,” and is decorated in “caviar and champagne” colors. A one week rental on this bad boy will set you back 1,200,000 EUR (nearly 9 million HRK) and guests are looked after by up to 28 crew members.
The actor, as we learned from the local authorities, sailed in the company of fellow Hollywood star Meryl Streep.
Streep will return to the Adriatic in September to film “Mamma Mia” on the island of Vis which will begin filming next month. Apart from Vis, Streep will also be spending time in Komiža.
Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth will also be featured in the film. The film cast, and crew will stay around 45 days and spend approximately 30 million HRK. Filmmakers have already reached the island to prepare the set.
Think we’ve named them all?
