The line up of this year’s festival SuperUho is now complete, with artists so diverse they cover a fantastically wide breadth of musical styles, ranging from hip hop to free jazz and underground rock and electronic. SuperUho will be held from August 1-3 in Primošten.
Here’s a look into the most recent names added, completing the already stellar SuperUho program.
The latest in a series of big names to be added to the SuperUho program is New York poet, actor and experimental hip hop giant, Saul Williams. Saul Williams has five highly acclaimed studio albums and has played a number of significant roles in award-winning independent films. A list of musicians he’s collaborated with are the likes of Nine Inch Nails, Nas, and The Fugees to name a few.
Domestic forces at this year’s festival will be one of the longest running, most popular, and creatively inexhaustible names Pips, Chips & Videoclips. With them will be acclaimed dark electro pop duo Side Project, whose own music is charmingly described as a graveyard pop, and energetic garage gothic post-punk quintet Baden-Baden. Another Zagreb group will complete the program of this year’s festival and that is sextet Franz Kafka Ensemble, whose core is composed of members from Cul De Sac and the now sadly defunct Peach Pit. The latest in a series of local names will be new Sibenik rock’n’roll trio Magul, led by legendary guitarist Ante Prgin.
And to complete the lineup from our neighboring countries are Damir Avdic and Everyone Else. Damir Avdic is a musical phenomenon not only in Bosnia but also throughout Europe, bringing the best of the Sarajevo hardcore scene. From Slovenia comes the duo Everyone Else, with their performance at the Ljubljana Ment festival last February blowing away everyone’s expectations, including the organizers of SuperUho.
The ful list of names that make up the main program of this year’s festival are Devendra Banhart, Mark Lanegan, Shobaleader One, Peter Hook & The Light, Mudhoney, Pips Chips & Videoclips, Saul Williams, Lightning Bolt, Damir Avdic, Female, Side Project, It’s Everyone Else, Franz Kafka Orchestra, Baden-Baden, and Magul.
The main program will take place across two stages located within the complex of the former Hotel Marina Port. In cooperation with the general sponsor Iskon, festival guests will be presented with a series of side events, which will be on the beach, located only 70 meters away from the main festival location. SuperUho will make this their festival relaxation zone, where you can enjoy food and drinks under a beautiful Mediterranean setting.
Festival tickets can be purchased for 250kn before the festival, and 290kn at the door. Camping tickets are 150kn.
