You can take a virtual tour of five locations covered by the Homeland War Memorial Centre in Vukovar.
As its contribution to this year’s events marking the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Vukovar, Croatian Telecom has launched a virtual tour of the locations included in the Homeland War Memorial Centre in Vukovar. In that way, it has allowed anyone in the world to get to know the recent history of Vukovar through the website of the Memorial Centre, reports Večernji List on November 17, 2016.
The virtual tour fully conveys the experience of visiting memorial locations in the town of Vukovar and its recent history. It contains a 360 degree overview of five locations within the Memorial Centre: the Vukovar Hospital, the Memorial House of Croatian Veterans on Trpinjska Road, the Ovčara Memorial House, the Museum of Homeland War Memories, and display of Stajićevo and Begejci concentration camps. The virtual tour has been produced by taking photos of the sites with modern equipment, which includes 33 venue points and more than 3,000 high-resolution photos. At the same time, this project is an interactive museum which allows you to visit Vukovar in just a few steps, via computer, tablet or a smartphone.
“These days, when we remember the victims of Vukovar, we believe that there is no more appropriate message that can be sent than the message of peace. We hope that the virtual tour that includes the memorial sites in Vukovar is just the beginning of successful cooperation between Croatian Telecom and the Homeland War Memorial Centre in Vukovar”, said the director of the Memorial Centre Zoran Šangut.
The virtual tour is a donation of Croatian Telecom to the Memorial Centre and the Town of Vukovar, which aims to show, explain and spread the story of Vukovar worldwide.
“Through this project, we wanted to use the most modern digital and technological solutions to enable the world to get to know Vukovar. This is our modest contribution to the history of this town and its people. Projects such as this confirm great importance of our investments in infrastructure and the development of the latest technologies”, said the CEO of Croatian Telecom Davor Tomašković.
