Some of you may have met Ana Mardešić at her exhibition in Split last winter, while others of you may be one of her 24,000 dedicated followers on Instagram. If you aren’t familiar with Ana’s work, you will be now that Hollywood has approved the talented Split artist, reports Srednja.hr on October 9, 2017.
If you’re in Croatia or read the Croatian news, you’re more than familiar with the filming of Mamma Mia 2 on the island of Vis. And if you’re familiar with the filming of the upcoming musical on Vis, then you are most definitely aware that the star-studded cast includes one of the most famous actors of today – Pierce Brosnan. That’s James Bond 007 to many of you.
The filming has attracted many fans, including talented Split artist Ana Mardešić. Ana, who’s lucky enough to visit her grandparents on the island of Vis often, said that she is ecstatic the island was chosen as the location for the upcoming film. And on her last visit to Vis, the young artist got more than she bargained for.
Ana Mardešić was given the opportunity to gift a personal portrait of Pierce Brosnan to Mr. James Bond himself.
“To my delight, the production crew contacted me and arranged a meeting for me to meet Pierce Brosnan while he was on a break from filming.
I gave him my drawing as a gift, and he signed the print which I posted on social media as a memento. He was very friendly. We talked briefly, and he thanked me for the portrait and said he really liked it.
Mr. Brosnan and the rest of the film crew enjoy the filming breaks on Vis to relax in the peace of the island. They were very accommodating and relaxed with the Islanders and tourists who stayed on Vis,” said Ana.
Earlier this summer, Ana had heard that Mamma Mia 2 was confirmed to be filmed on the island of Vis, bringing in a cast including Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, and Colin Firth. It was then that Ana decided to draw portraits of Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan in the event she accidentally ran into them on the island.
“Unfortunately, like many of the others, Meryl Streep did not come to Vis to film so her portrait will remain a memory for me. I will post it to Instagram and in a YouTube video in the next few days,” Ana added.
