The Šibenik Christmas tale ‘Adventura 2016’, the first and only eco Advent which will last until 1 January 2017, was opened by Mayor Željko Burić.
With the burning of hundreds of Christmas lights in the Šibenik Perivoj Robert Visiani on Friday night, the first and only ‘plastic-free’ Advent Fair in Croatia happily opened, completely devoid of plastic and plastic packaging, with all food and drinks sold on biodegradable cups and plates, writes Poslovni.hr on 10 December, 2016.
The Šibenik Christmas tale ‘Adventura 2016’, which runs through 1 January 2017, was opened by Mayor Željko Burić.
“Šibenik this year could be original and different. This is confirmed by this innovation, and we believe that it will be recognized not only by Šibenik citizens, but by visitors from all over Croatia. Šibenik over the past few years has become a recognizable tourist destination, and our wish is that this trend runs during all of the winter months and not just our creative Christmas and New Year offer,” said Šibenik Mayor Burić at the opening of the first plastic-free Advent in Croatia, confirming Šibenik as a smart and ecologically sustainable city.
As part of ‘Adventura’, the ice rink hosted the first hockey game in the history of the city, whom this year marks 950 years since the first writings were found in the deed of King Petar Krešimir IV. on Christmas Day in 1066.
In addition at ‘Adventura’, the gastro offer will be accompanied by an entertainment program including numerous concerts close to the ice skating rink, with all events taking place at 3 themed locations. A definite sight is the clock that boasts a diameter of 5 meters placed on the fountain – the same clock that will count down the hours until Christmas morning when Šibenik will celebrate their 950th birthday.
