Hotel Jagerhorn is ranked first on Trip Advisor’s list of Zagreb hotels.
Carefully “hidden” in a passage that connects the historic Upper Town and the city’s centre, located near the main Ban Jelačić Square, Hotel Jagerhorn has opened its doors on Friday for journalists, who had the opportunity to enjoy the unique ambience of Cafe Jagerhorn and to wander around the newly renovated hotel, reports hotspots.net.hr on July 9, 2016.
The oldest existing hotel in Zagreb, Jagerhorn has emerged as a social and cultural centre of the city way back in 1827. Hailed as a favourite hangout of many Croatian historical figures, Jagerhorn was often visited by Croatian writer and politician Ljudevit Gaj and famous Ban Josip Jelačić. The hotel is now a favourite destination of business people and tourists, but also locals, as it is deeply woven into the history of the city and even mentioned in local songs, theatre shows and movies.
This intimate oasis in the heart of Zagreb has a rich tradition and heritage, but it does not let time stand in its way. Following the latest trends, the hotel was recently completely renovated. The renovation began in 2009 and the total cost amounted to 4,000,000 kuna. In addition, the refurbishment of the inner part of the cafe is planned for the autumn. The hotel will also start preparing to increase its capacity and expand its catering facilities.
During the renovation, a special focus was put on the design and visual identity, as well as the preservation of its historical and cultural value. Very detailed, demanding and time-consuming refurbishment has yielded some truly impressive results. A striking blend of the contemporary and the past is felt with every step, including in eighteen elegantly designed rooms. Each one is of a unique shape and size, with traditional royal blue and beige tones which were chosen so that contemporary and restored furniture could translate into a perfect combination of elegance, style and functionality.
The historical institution has now returned to its earlier charm and the sweetness of the times long lost. This is corroborated by the fact that, today, Hotel Jagerhorn is ranked first on Trip Advisor’s list of Zagreb hotels, in front of the famous gracious lady Esplanade and the Hilton.
