ZAGREB, September 2, 2018 – The 13th Trash Film Festival will be held in Varaždin on September 5-8 and this year’s edition is dedicated to spy films, the theme being “The spies we love”, with some 50 films in official competition and a rich accompanying programme, including the inauguration of a Walk of Fame.
About 200 films were submitted for official competition, of which about 50 were eventually selected, festival director Slobodan Runjak has told reporters. The films came from some 20 countries, including South Korea, Iraq and Iran, although a majority were from Croatia’s neighbours.
The films in the official programme will compete for the Golden Chainsaw awards in the martial arts, action, horror and SF categories. One Golden Chainsaw will also be presented by the audience.
The Walk of Fame, modelled after the one in Hollywood, will be located in the very centre of Varaždin. The first star on it will be dedicated to Zvonimir Ferenčić, who played Franc Ožbolt Cinober in a popular Croatian TV show from 1975 called “Gruntovčani”.
