ZAGREB, July 9, 2018 – The third day of the Ultra Europe music festival ended on Monday morning. During the day, 127 Croatian and foreign nationals were arrested. One injured British national was hospitalised at Split’s hospital and an American, who was hospitalised on Saturday, died on Sunday.

The festival continues on Wednesday on the islands of Brač, Hvar and Vis.

Ultra Europe, a multi-venue outdoor electronic music festival, started in Split on Friday. Approximately 150,000 revellers were entertained by DJs including Carl Cox, Afrojack, Alesso, Jamie Jones, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Seth Troxler and Nic Fanciulli.

Local media reported that 24 party-goers were taken to hospital, and ambulance staff had to deal with 60 separate incidents at the stadium. Intoxication and drugs were the reason for the majority of the call-outs.

A total of 305 people were arrested during the three-day festival. A 28-year old was found on Friday with 49 kilograms of marijuna, packed in 47 plastic bags. The majority of the arrests were due to disorderly conduct, narcotics and people who tried to enter without paying, police said.

A 26-year-old American national fell ill at the festival on Saturday and was taken to hospital. Split police reported on Monday that the American died in hospital on Sunday and that the cause of death would be known after the autopsy.
