The number of blue flag beaches in Zagreb is equal to that of Split-Dalmatia and Dubrovnik-Neretva Counties, and there are more blue flag beaches in Zagreb than in Šibenik-Knin County, Večernji reports
All eight Zagreb beaches are tidied up and are ready for the first swimmers to arrive.
“There are eight to ten thousand visitors at Zagreb beaches during hottest summer days, and, even though the swimming season is officially open June 1 – September 15, the busiest period is when children’s holidays start at the end of June,” a Sports Facilities Management spokesperson said for Večernji, adding that the preparations for the swimming season started back in spring.
Examination of water quality conducted by researchers from Andrija Stampar Teaching Institute of Public Health has shown that water from both Bundek and Jarun is of excellent quality. Water quality will be analysed twice a month at both locations during swimming season.
In addition to excellent water quality, trained lifeguard teams are present at both locations daily, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., so swimmers can rest assured that they will be completely safe while swimming.
