ZAGREB, September 27, 2018 – A 57.8 million kuna infrastructure project that is expected to ensure new capital equipment for the Zagreb Faculty of Science Physics Department and increase its regional competitiveness was presented in Zagreb on Thursday.
The Centre for Advanced Research of Complex Systems project envisages the purchase of new equipment for nine department laboratories which, once the project is completed, will be accessible by other institutions in the country as well, it was said at the presentation.
Eighty-five percent of the funding for the project was secured from the European Regional Development Fund as part of a tender for investment in the organisational reform and infrastructure of the research and innovation sector.
State Secretary for Science Tome Antičić said that close to one billion kuna had been invested in science projects in Croatia which, he said, was a major step forward for Croatian science.
He announced more big projects and noted that apart from infrastructure, the quality of science needed improvement as well. An important step in that direction is the new model of financing of universities on which the government adopted a decision at its session today, said Anticic.
