The three-day festival will feature some of the best recent tourism films.
The Zagreb TourFilm Festival, an international tourism film festival, a full-fledged member of the CIFFT – the International Association of Tourism Film Festivals, will take place from 10 to 12 October and will feature tourist films from 91 countries.
The festival is held under the auspices of Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, the Ministry of Tourism, the Croatian National Tourist Board and the City of Zagreb, and is organised by the Zagreb Tourist Board and Balduči Film. The festival gathers filmmakers, top tourism experts and all those who love exploring attracting destinations around the world. It director is Spomenka Saraga.
This year, the festival received for consideration 807 films from 91 countries, of which 263 have been selected for competition. The best among them will be chosen by an eleven-member expert jury, consisting of respected Croatian and European experts.
For all fans of travel, Kaptol Boutique Cinema at Nova Ves will offer free screenings on 11 October from 11 am to 9 pm. The films will feature new destinations, cities, hotels and resorts, adventurous activities, extreme sports, various cultures and traditions. They are divided into five categories: promotional films up to 3 minutes, 30 minutes and 60 minutes, TV features and Croatian tourism films. Particularly interesting works are expected from countries such as Spain, the Philippines, the Czech Republic, the United States, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Ecuador and many others. The festival programme is available on the web (www.zagreb-tourfilm.com) and the festival’s Facebook page.
In addition to the film programme, a large number of prizes has been secured for the audience tombola by the sponsors, including Matea Nesek perfumes, LifeClass Spa Sveti Martin, Skinfinity cosmetics, the Međimurski Dvori restaurant, the Kolar cellars etc. The Zagreb County Tourist Board and the Tourist Board of Samobor will present their tourist potentials to the festival guests from around the world.
In addition to screenings and awards for the best tourism films, the 7th Zagreb Tourfilm Festival will organise a panel discussion on “Economic Impact of Fiscal Subsidies for Film and Television”, aimed at linking film and tourism professionals and encouraging discussion about promotion of destinations in the right way and at giving impetus to the development of new forms of cooperation between the two industries. The participants of the discussion are Bruno Manique from the Film Commission Portugal, Geronymaki Stavroula from the Greek Film Commission, Francisco Dias from Portugal, Jasmin Duraković, a film director from Sarajevo, and Tanja Ladović Blažević from the Croatian Audio-Visual Centre (HAVC).
The organisers are especially pleased with a large number of countries from which films have been registered for the festival since they consider it a confirmation and acknowledgment that the Zagreb TourFilm Festival, the City of Zagreb and Croatia are already well-known in the world of tourism and the tourism film industry. The selected films offer a diverse array of themes, and therefore we invite all those interested in the best recent tourism films to see a selection of the best films on Thursday, October 11, from 11 am to 9 pm at Kaptol Boutique Cinema.
