Each holiday gets its own “zoo version” as well.
For Christmas they unwrapped gifts, for the New Year they had a party, for the Halloween they decorated pumpkins… At the first glance quite usual festivities have a somewhat unusual version at the Zagreb Zoo, because the lead role is always given to animals, reports Večernji List on February 15, 2017.
Indeed, lately it seems as if each important holiday or celebration gets its own “zoo version”, and the yesterday’s Valentine’s Day was no exception. For example, visitors could “adopt” an animal couple, such as sea lions Zagi and Edith.
Each holiday is marked by an interesting activity by some of its residents, as well as with themed tours, educational workshops, performances… They are intended for both children and adults and, judging by the great interest of visitors, the zoo is on the right track.
The programmes for visitors to the zoo are becoming ever more extensive. It seems that the zoo known very well that visitors will not come on their own. Rather, they need to be given a reason to return, in addition to the animals themselves. And they have apparently discovered the secret of how to do it successfully, so it is no wonder that year after year they record an increase in the number of visitors.
Events, workshops, promotional prices… activities are numerous, even now when a large part of the zoo has been renovated and the management could just sit and wait to reap the benefits of modernization. Although the zoo now looks world-class, they know that new animal dwellings and a new restaurant will not be new for long, and therefore they are working hard to make visitors return.
People of Zagreb have recognized their efforts and it is not difficult to see how popular the zoo is today. For instance, last year lions Tuma and Uzuri were born and became stars in Zagreb, thanks to large posters posted around the city.
