December the 13th, 2024 – The Croatian Parliament has declared 2025 as the year in which the 1100th anniversary of the Kingdom of Croatia will be marked. Bosnia and Herzegovina, where King Tomislav was coronated, will also be included.
As Morski writes, to mark the anniversary of the Kingdom of Croatia, a large jubilee and accompanying celebrations are scheduled to take place in Split-Dalmatia County. County Prefect Blaženko Boban presented the programme for the 2025 marking of the 1100th anniversary of the Kingdom of Croatia.
“The year 2025 is the year that the Croatian Parliament has declared the year of the Kingdom of Croatia. We are marking 1100 years of that kingdom, from King Tomislav onwards. If any county should be called upon to be an active participant in these events at the national level, primarily by presenting everything that those times left as a mark on Croatian history, then it’s Split-Dalmatia County. Almost everything that happened in this area during that time happened in the area this county spans. Of course, there were other participants, but there was a lot of activity in this area. Split-Dalmatia County’s coat of arms is also marked by the Kingdom of Croatia,” stated County Prefect Boban.
As part of the 2025 programme to mark the Kingdom of Croatia, numerous exhibitions, concerts, symposiums, musical, stage and art competitions are being planned.
County President Boban confirmed that he will include neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina in the planned activities because the coronation of King Tomislav took place there. Numerous locations throughout the county, as well as locations from neighbouring counties, will also be included. It seems that in 2025, we can look forward to a truly joyful and festive programme in memory of that now exceptionally distant year of 925.
