A scenic but frighteningly long cycling route through Croatia in honour of Veterans Day and Homeland Thanksgiving Day.
On the occasion of the Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and Croatian Veterans’ Day, the Slavonski Brod Bikers Association has organised the cycling ultramaraton of Vukovar – Knin – Dubrovnik. The cycling route, which has been organised for the eighth consecutive year, is in honour of those who lost their lives during the war, and those who fought for Croatia’s eventual freedom.
At over 1000 km long and covering all sorts of mixed terrain, the route from north to south is no easy feat, especially under the rays of the unforgiving summer sunshine.
Members of the Slavonski Brod bikers association, Croatian war veterans from the Homeland War and their family members will end up in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, and their arrival at Dubrovnik’s famous Dr. Franjo Tudjman bridge is expected today at about 13:00.
Otherwise, the beginning of the long journey starts at Ovčara, the end is obviously Dubrovnik, and it is held in 7 stages, from the 30th of July to the 5th of August.
