August 23, 2023 – The Nebeska Šetnica Lookout – Biokovo Skywalk is one of the more recent Croatian tourist attractions. 1228 meters above sea level, it features a glass platform that provides some of the most magnificent views of the Croatian islands. It is semicircular in shape with a diameter of 8.5 meters, and together with its flat parts it protrudes beyond the edge of the cliff about 11 meters and is the first skywalk in Croatia.
The viewpoint plateau itself is 23 x 3 metres, points out the Biokovo nature park website. On sunny, windy days, it is possible to see all the way to Italy. A walk along the clear glass skywalk, over the edge of the cliff, provides a bird’s eye view of the Mt. Biokovo rocks edge of the cliffs.
For about two days, Biokovo skywalk was closed due to damage to the multi-layered fence glass. Acoording to the administration of Biokovo Nature Park, it was reopened for visitors yesterday afternoon.
As Index reports, the lookout point was reopened after a team of experts determined that the broken inner fence glass did not pose any danger to visitors.
Biokovo Skywalk Once Again Safe for Tours
Experts have officially confirmed that it is completely safe to visit the Nebeska Šetnica. The Biokovo attraction, which had about 200,000 visitors last year, will be closed again for a short time on Friday, August 25, for the replacement of the glass.
The public will be informed about the exact date of the re-closing in due time, and until then visitors can enjoy a walk among the clouds without fear, Biokovo Nature Park says.
By the way, the steel-glass construction with a glass floor is made in accordance with the highest safety standards and protocols. It is checked by experts from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Split before the start of each season, points out the manager of the Biokovo Nature Park, Slavo Jakša.
